Young Contracting was founded thirty years
ago with the objective of providing pipe
laying distribution service to the Gas and Water Utilities.
The two original directors, Terry Wood and Ivor Caswell,
set up the company in 1975. They were told they were
too “young” to be starting in business on
their own. This idea struck a chord,
and Young Contracting was born!
Terry and Ivor had a combined total of over
sixty years experience within the gas
and water industries, before retiring in 2005.
Both still play a part as consultant
engineers to the company.
Young Contracting quickly added landfill pipework
to their list of services, and have
since become experts in the field.
After thirty successful years, Young Contracting
have been privileged to work on many major contracts,
however they have never lost the "personal touch" which one wouldn’t
normally expect from a large-scale company, always
prepared to go the extra mile for any client,
regardless of the size of the job.
Keeping it in the family
As the company grew, Ivor’s son, Neil, joined the team.
Over the last 15 years, Neil has taken an increasingly active
role in managing projects and developing the
business. Now with his father’s retirement,
Neil has been charged with leading the company
into their next chapter. Mark Shaw joined
9 years ago and now completes a duo as co-owner/Director.
Young Contracting are looking forward to another
successful thirty years. It is constant desire to use
state-of-the-art techniques,
and to innovate new ways to add value to service,
that they hope will keep them ahead of the field.
