Installation Techniques

Impact moling is a technique in which a percussive mole (soil displacement hammer) is launched from an excavation to displace the soil and form a small tunnel. The new pipe/duct is normally drawn in behind the mole or pulled back into the bored tunnel using the hammers reverse action. Pneumatically driven moles, in which the soil is displaced by the action of a percussive piston, we have for immediate availability a range of moles 45 - 200mm diameter. We use moles on a daily basis to lay new or replace existing gas and water service pipes - 20mm to 90mm are common practice.
